Things to do near Temple, Texas

Did you know there’s an AWESOME Adventure Farm called Sweet Eats Fruit Farm located 40 Minutes directly south of Temple?

Temple was founded as a railroad town in 1881 by the Sante Fe and Gulf, Colorado Railroad. Temple was incorporated in 1882 and the town was named after a Santa Fe Railroad official named Bernard Moore Temple. Bernard Temple was a civil engineer and former surveyor with the Railway Company. In the town’s early years, it was made up of mostly shacks and tents with a large number of saloons and the crowd we would consider characters in old western films. Temple’s nickname was “Tanglefoot” because some of the residents found that the combination of muddy streets and liquor made walking through the town quite challenging. Today there is a railroad and heritage museum to commemorate the significance of the railroad city. The current population of Temple is approximately 64,489 people who call the city home.  With that many people in an area all looking for something to do, what better than to escape the city and head toward the farm animals and outdoor fun!!
